How to look after your RIB

Boat maintenance

When properly maintained and looked after, your RIB will bring you many years of boating enjoyment. Here are our tips for keeping it shipshape.

Regular servicing

Our skilled team is on hand to offer annual services, which will ensure your boat and engine are in first-class order and always water ready.

Cleaning and UV protection

Because salt water is very corrosive, we recommend that you wash your boat down with fresh water after every use. Over time, salt water can cause damage to almost every part of your boat, which is why rinsing it after use is important. Another benefit of having a regular routine of cleaning and drying your boat is that you’ll quickly be able to spot any signs of wear and tear.

We also advise that you book your boat in for regular deep cleans. Our deep clean includes applying UV protection to the tubes and antifouling the hulls to protect them from marine growth. Typically, a deep clean will last for one season, but in some cases even two or three (depending on where you keep your boat and how often you use it).

If you are unsure whether your boat needs a deep clean, please do get in touch.

Ensure your tubes are always well inflated

Keeping your tubes well inflated will help them hold their shape and avoid straining the seams. Long term, this can really help to reduce wear and tear.

Keep your boat covered

Whether it’s on land or water, you should always keep your boat covered when not in use. A cover will protect your tube and upholstery, keeping it safe from damage caused by birds, weather conditions, and other factors.

Be prepared!

It’s always worth carrying some basic spare parts and tools on board, just in case! We suggest your kit should include the following: RIB keys, kill cord, handheld radio, ICC certificates of competence, and a copy of your insurance documents.
